How the generator works
The generator combines your topic with hook templates organized into ten angles: contrarian, number, question, story, mistake, before and after, list, confession, data and bold claim. Each angle has formulas tested across thousands of successful LinkedIn posts. When you click generate, it assembles 10 variations by filling in the topic, the audience and the numbers of each formula. Everything happens in the browser, with no AI and no data sent anywhere.
Choose 'mix all angles' to see a sample of each approach and discover which fits the post you have in mind, or select a specific angle to explore ten variations of it. The regenerate button changes the numbers and the order so you get fresh combinations.
Why the hook matters more than the rest of the post
In the LinkedIn feed only the first two or three lines appear before 'see more'. If they do not spark curiosity, the rest of the text is never read, however good it is. The algorithm watches who stops to read, who expands and how long they stay: a strong hook raises dwell time, which in turn raises distribution to your contacts' networks.
Creators with the largest reach usually write the hook last and test several versions. A good hook has one idea, creates an information gap and speaks directly to a specific audience. The templates here follow those principles, but they are a starting point: the final version needs to sound like you.
How to adapt the hooks to your tone
Swap generic numbers for your real ones, replace the default audience with the niche you serve and cut any word that does not add tension. Read it aloud: if it sounds like an ad, soften it; if it sounds like a conversation, you are on the right track. A hook only works when the rest of the post delivers the promise, so treat the hook you choose as a contract with the reader.
- Use specific numbers ($47k, 11 months) instead of round ones.
- Prefer present-tense verbs and short sentences.
- Never promise in the hook what the post does not deliver.
- Test the hook in the post preview to see the 'see more' cut.
- Save hooks that performed well and reuse the structure.
Frequently asked questions
Does the generator use artificial intelligence?
No. It uses hand-written templates organized by angle and fills them with your topic. It is instant and works offline. For AI-generated hooks in your own voice, based on your previous posts, use Postbridge.
What is a hook on LinkedIn?
It is the first line (or first two lines) of the post, the part visible before 'see more'. Its job is to make the reader stop and click to read the rest.
Which hook angle works best?
It depends on the topic and the audience. Contrarian and confession hooks tend to drive more comments; number and list hooks drive more saves; stories increase reading time. Test by rotating angles across weeks.
Can I use the hooks on other networks?
Yes. The formulas work on any text-based network such as X, Threads and newsletters, but the ideal length changes. On LinkedIn, stay under 210 characters.
Why do some hooks read oddly with my topic?
The templates expect a topic phrased as a noun (for example 'B2B sales', 'remote leadership'). If you type a whole sentence, some fits become grammatically awkward. Adjust the topic or edit the hook.
How many hooks should I test per post?
Write at least three variations and pick the one that opens the biggest curiosity gap without overpromising. Over time you will notice which angles your audience prefers.
